My goal for 2014 is to be a better blogger (among a million other things that I would like to improve in my life- personally and professionally). I realized that it is one of the best ways to share my art with people, and for people to find me. I just got an email from the mom of this little girl to set-up her 6 month session. I realized that I didn’t blog her newborn session, so here it is . . . .
I have been in the studio for almost 6 months. The extra space is wonderful. Do you know what else is wonderful? I don’t really need to use a lot of big, expensive backdrops to create the pictures I want for my families. I am in love with using the natural light from the windows and the soft off-white, creamy walls. I love the beautiful hardwood floors. Don’t get me wrong there is a lot of character within the space that some people may see as flaws, but I think it just lends itself to the uniqueness and beauty. There is something beautiful, and not to be cheesy, but poetic about photographing a newborn in a 200 year old building. And, I have something unique that I am offering to my clients. And generally, I love to photograph my newborns in color, but I LOVE black and white pictures of my newborn families (and maternity, too.) I don’t know what it is about black and white. There is just some kind of timeless & simple emotion it evokes.
The other day, I posted a little sneak peek from my first newborn session of 2014. These are just a few of my favorites . . . such a beautiful little girl with awesome hair! I love that we a couple awake pictures and all of those adorable, cuddly sleeping baby pictures.
I had the most beautiful, sweet little girl in the studio this morning. She was celebrating her 1 week birthday by having her newborn session. She had one amazing head of hair and the most beautiful newborn complexion. I loved photographing her!
I absolutely love this family! How exciting (and exhausting) that they just went from a family of 4 to a family of 6. Aren’t they adorable?! It was pretty sweet & simple session, and we accomplished so much. The boys by themselves as well as together. And, they were wide awake for some, and nice and sleepy for others!
This little girl was awesome for her session. She was a modest little girl who preferred to have her ruffled bloomers on, but she did a little bit of everything. I love that her mom brought a headband with a flower that she used on her wedding day. What a great way to incorporate something meaningful and personal. LOVE!
This little girl had an awesome session. We did a few sibling pictures to start the session, she has 3 older brothers and a sister. Then, we jumped into her session. She rocked it. We finished her session in an hour and a half. She was a very sleepy little girl, but she was awake for a couple pictures, too. The best of both worlds.
Here are a few more pictures from the session of the twins from last week. They arrived a little early, and here they are at 16 days old. So sweet!
These little girls are so beautiful! They are only 16 days old, and they already have tons of personality.
I photographed a beautiful baby girl last week. She was a couple weeks early, and she was very alert. I think she is ready to take on the world. She was awesome. Even though she was very alert, eventually she fell asleep just long enough for us to get a few sleepy pictures and a couple of prop pictures, too. Most newborns look cross-eyed, but she was very focused. Enjoy!
