Five years ago, I photographed this little dude’s sister for her first communion. They are my friends and neighbors. Their mom has always been one of my biggest cheerleaders when I was deciding whether or not to take a leap of faith and officially go into business. We had a lot of fun, and we even ventured outside the studio to enjoy a little bit of today’s beautiful weather.

A few more from my Easter/Spring Mini-Sessions for 2015. These are one of my favorite brother & sister duos and they look ready for Spring! I love taking pictures of children, but sometimes they have their own agenda. And, sometimes one of them is ready and the other one isn’t, but usually somewhere in all the chaos we are able to capture a few adorable pictures.
I cannot believe that I have been photographing this little guy for 3 years. It seems like just yesterday that we did his newborn session. And, now he has a little sister! Happy birthday, big guy!
Every once in a while I get an email or phone call from someone who wants to schedule a mini-session. They don’t need a lot of pictures or they don’t want to spend the money on a full session, but the problem is that you don’t really schedule a mini-session unless I am offering one. I can appreciate that not everyone needs a full session and I can appreciate a good bargain which is why I love a mini-session. Unlike a full session, a mini-session is planned by me (some for family portraits and some for a holiday) on specific dates and locations, and sometimes for a specific theme.
Bottom line . . . are you going to raise the price? The answer is no. I haven’t raised the price for 2 years and I am not ready to raise the price this year either. Not to get all business on you, but I do need to increase my bottom line and improve my efficiency. So, I have tweaked the mini-session that benefits everyone.
So, here it is-
The new mini-session is a 15 minute session and your images are available to you via digital download (usually 8-12 images). There are no more prints or products offered with a mini-session. It doesn’t really get more simple. Although one of my favorite parts of my business is the cute packaging, it just doesn’t make good business sense for a mini-session (all that money I spend on CDs and packaging and postage really add up). Also, with the new ordering website, you get your images that much faster and who wouldn’t want to get their images faster?! As an added bonus, there is more time to offer more mini-sessions and sessions, because last year I had to turn some people away and I don’t like to say no to anyone. So there you have it . . . the mini-session makeover.

Just had to share a few pictures from the Burlap and Bunnies Mini-Sessions from this morning. I am so ready for Spring! Getting ready for this mini-session really made me excited for warmer weather and greener grass and flowers and birds chirping . . .

One of the things on my to do list for Pictures by Whitney is to offer more seasonal mini-sessions since I have the studio space to offer them. Who is ready for their close up?

This little man is such a cutie! I know that you can’t tell from these pictures, but he made me work for it. Toddlers can be challenging, but a few of their favorite things and some cookie encouragement and balloons will win them over for at few minutes of cooperation to turn the terrible twos into the terrific twos even if it is just for a handful of moments!

I love this guy! It is so much fun watching him grow up. His mom wanted a handful of pictures to commemorate the big 3! I think he looks quite dapper.
I have had the privilege of photographing this little girl since she was born. I generally get to see her several times a year, and I love it! I will admit her mom made me a little nervous because during the process of the planning the session, she said several times “well, we’ll see she is 2.” I love the color combination for this session. This little girl was was awesome. It took her a little bit to warm up, but once I brought out some balloons, all was right with the world. Well, until we tried to dress her up as a mermaid. I didn’t think that picture was going to happen, and it wasn’t quite what I had envisioned, but it is cute.
I love this little girl! I look forward to seeing her every year and watching her grow. Such an honor to be part of her life. Photographing a 2 year can be challenging, but she was pretty awesome. Her middle name is Rose, and her mom brought some yellow roses. We didn’t plan to sprinkler her with the petals, it just kind of happened. This little girl loved it!
