Welcome to Pictures by Whitney! My name is Whitney Marzullo. I am a custom newborn & family photographer based in Southern York County, Pennsylvania.
I love everything photography, but my passions are newborns & families. I love photographing families & watching them grow.
I believe that you don't need to have a special occasion to have a session, because every day is a good day to capture a smile!
These girls are awesome. They are nice, polite, funny. They are talented athletes. I love them! This session was a gift for their Dad who happens to be an awesome coach. He has been a coach for my daughter for basketball or softball for the past 3 years. Here is the thing about their dad, he has done more for my daughter than to just teach her how to throw a ball, steal a base and slide into home. He has taught her about being a friend, working hard, having a positive attitude and being a good sport. I am sure that he realizes that he is a role model for them, but to be honest I don’t know if he realizes how much of an impact he has on these girls. And, I am confident that the girls don’t realize what an impact he has made on them. Thank you!
This little guy had a tough start when he first made his grand entrance in to the world, but you’d never know it. He is definitely strong and healthy, and so cute! I love the hungry caterpillar theme. The bright colors are just so happy!
What a good looking bunch of kids! This was taken at one of my favorite locations at my favorite time to do sessions during my favorite time of year.
Here is a sneak peek of one of the sessions from the studio this past weekend. This family came to me for the first time, it was so nice to meet them. Normally I post the pictures on Facebook directly, but the quality of the pictures has been a little unflattering, so I thought I would post to the blog.
I absolutely love this family! How exciting (and exhausting) that they just went from a family of 4 to a family of 6. Aren’t they adorable?! It was pretty sweet & simple session, and we accomplished so much. The boys by themselves as well as together. And, they were wide awake for some, and nice and sleepy for others!
This was a great session. The weather was questionable for most of the day, but it was a perfect evening for a session. I am sure it helps that I know these guys, and they’ve been coming to me for the last couple of years for pictures, so it was a pretty relaxed session. It was so relaxed that the boys even got out their football and jerseys to throw the ball around for a couple more “action” shots. Here are just a few of my favorites (and I can’t resist a picture of someone being a little goofy!)
This year is a very busy time of year for family sessions because everyone wants to take advantage of the Fall foliage. I don’t blame them. I love it, too! Last year, I photographed this family for the first time, and I am so glad they came back to me this year. They are such a pleasure to photograph.
This mom was very realistic in her expectation of her son. It is sometimes hard to get a toddler to cooperate for pictures, and some toddlers are a little more agreeable than others. We tried a few “plain” clothes pictures, but this little guy just wasn’t feeling it. And, this is where plan B was a good thing. They brought their Ravens jersies to try and get a picture or two. When she told me that they’d like to do a Ravens pictures, I decided to bring a football. When the more traditional family pictures wasn’t going smoothly, we decided to go ahead to try and get one or two in the jersies. They aren’t necessarily the most traditional family pictures, but they truly are a reflection of this sports lovin’ family. I would consider this a touchdown!!
A couple months ago my husband encouraged me to purchase a very old, very awesome building for the future home of Pictures by Whitney. Yesterday was the official open house. It was so wonderful to see so many of my clients and friends and family, and new faces. There is still quite a bit on the to do list, but I have had several sessions in the new building and I am in love with the space. Not only does it function so well as a photography studio, it is filled with warmth and charm. There are so many people who were part of the process- Larry O’Brien who allowed me to look at the property several times and helped to get us a great deal, Vitto Pasko, my contractor with Premier Remodeling and Design, who took care of the new roof/insulations/brick repair/gutters/ window wells/exterior paint (and some other random things.) I need to say thank you to Mike, Lonnie, Tina, Ginny and Justin with Susquehanna Bank. They made the loan process relatively painless, and they have been there to support me in getting everything set up. I also couldn’t not have gotten it all done without the help of my amazing father-in-law. Dan the Glass Man of Residential Glass took care of repairing some broken windows and sashes, and Ken Greer was awesome when he came to my rescue helping to get the pre-1929 boiler working less than 24 hours before my first newborn session during the cold snap. I can’t forget all the people who helped with the cleaning and yard work (it is nice to know some hardworking young men.) And, thank you to my friends who helped me out with taking care of my kids while I spent too much time at the building. But, the most important person, who not only encouraged me to start my photography business almost 4 years ago, but the man who encouraged me to make this building my own and let me do so, my husband. Thank you, Matt.
I try to keep things sweet & simple because I think you shouldn’t make things harder than they have to be (even though sometimes I totally make things harder for myself). Anyway, I had too much information for a Facebook post. I wanted to extend an invite to stop by the open house on Saturday, October 5 @ 12 S. Main Street, Shrewsbury, from 10:00-4:00. It is the same day at the Shrewsbury Fall Festival. It is a great opportunity to get more information, or meet me if you aren’t a client.
If you stop by the studio during the open house, you will get a chance to win a free family session in 2014. Amazing! If you bring a friend, you’ll get another chance to put your name in. If you can’t come, but your friend tells me that you referred them, I’ll enter your name for a chance. And, if you really want to come check out the studio, but you can’t do it on Saturday . . . you can stop by on Friday, October 4 (kind of like a sneak peek!) and I’ll enter you name for a chance to win. Awesome!
If you get a chance, let me know if you can make it!
