Welcome to Pictures by Whitney! My name is Whitney Marzullo. I am a custom newborn & family photographer based in Southern York County, Pennsylvania.
I love everything photography, but my passions are newborns & families. I love photographing families & watching them grow.
I believe that you don't need to have a special occasion to have a session, because every day is a good day to capture a smile!
Looking forward to a fun and productive new year! Every year, I take a little bit of time to evaluate what worked for me and what didn’t work for me. I do this professionally and personally. I don’t have a lot of complaints about 2014! It was a year filled with loyal clients and new clients, too. I had the honor of photographing lots and lots of new siblings this year. Even though it was a great year, I have pinpointed a few areas that I could improve on not only for you, but also for myself. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be sharing some of the changes including sending out my first official newsletter in a couple of weeks!
I wish everyone a wonderful new year . . . may it be picture perfect! Lots of health & happiness, laughter & smiles, and hopefully a trip to see me!
When I met this family for the first time, I instantly knew I was going to love them. We all pray that we have a healthy baby, but the reality is that not all babies will be healthy. Unfortunately, this little girl had a rough start to her little life, but she was blessed with some awesome parents. I can’t imagine everything her parents had to deal with and how many emotions that they’ve experienced. I am sure that this past year has gone so quickly for them because of everything they’ve had to do, but I am sure that there are times that it has felt like a lifetime as well. And now here they are celebrating her first birthday. Planning a first birthday is so much fun. But I imagine that planning a first birthday for your little girl who faced a year filled with hospitals and doctors and a different set of milestones than most babies, the celebration of a first birthday is a much more emotional experience and one of great celebration for very different reasons. She is one . . . one beautiful little, one awesome little girl, one loved little girl. She is ONE!
I love this guy! It is so much fun watching him grow up. His mom wanted a handful of pictures to commemorate the big 3! I think he looks quite dapper.
You’ve heard me say it a million times, I am a work in progress. And, so is my business. I am thinking about offering Newborn Mini-Sessions to my services for next year, but I want to try them out. Would some people prefer a newborn mini-session? Will I enjoy doing newborn mini-sessions? Is it cost-effective? Do I understand the logistics? So, I figured I would try it out before I commit to it. If you know someone due in the month of October, and they might be interested in being a guinea pig, please share this information with them.
If they are interested, please have them email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call me at 717-814-9088.
So excited to meet the newest addition to this family. He is going to love his big sister!
I have only known this little girl for a little bit, but I think we are going to be the best of friends. First of all, I love her whole family! Second of all, she was an awesome little model. She had a very full gallery, but the sweet and simple ones are my favorites. I already order some canvases for the studio.
Mini-Sessions are awesome!
They are a great introduction to custom photography, or a great way to update your family photos when you don’t need a full family session. Maybe you have a child (or children) who doesn’t have a long attention span, but they are agreeable to having their picture taken so they are good at getting in and getting out. Typically, I do 5-6 of them in a year. Most of them are family sessions, but some of them are seasonal like my costume mini-sessions or holiday sessions.
So what exactly is a mini-session? A mini-session is a session that lasts about 15 minutes and you will have up to 8 images in your gallery. The cost for a mini-session is currently $125. They are done on a specific time and a specific location and multiple time slots available for you to choose from on that particular day. It is important that you are prompt for your session because they are scheduled back-to-back. That is what makes it cost-effective for me to offer them. It also includes a print credit, but it is less than a regular session. The print credit with a mini-session is $50. Typically, a mini-session will have no more than 5 people and no pets. It also does not allow for outfit changes.
So, how do I book a mini-session? I will announce my mini-sessions via email and Facebook. They are scheduled first come first serve, and to secure your session, you must pay for your mini-sessions within 10 days of booking your time slot. In the event of inclement weather, you can reschedule for one of my rain dates, or I can apply a credit to your account for a future session/mini-session.
Note: There are no discounts applied to mini-sessions because they are already discounted sessions. Also, prices are subject to change (only important if you are not reading this in the future).
It was just two weeks ago.
It was the anticipation and excitement of waiting for one friend to give birth. And then, it was the relief and happiness to know that a beautiful little girl had arrived safely. A very healthy, beautiful little girl. It was rearranging the day’s schedule to go meet her and take pictures of her and congratulate her parents. It was such happiness to meet a new life that was introduced to the world.
Then a couple days later, it was the heart-wrenching news that one of my good friends had lost her husband unexpectedly. The sadness was so overwhelming. I was sad that a man who I considered to be a friend was taken from this world, but my heart was aching for my good friend. She is now a widow, and their children no longer have a father here on earth. Time may heal all wounds, but the scars will always be there. It is so incredibly sad. I don’t really know how else to say it. One of my friends said it so well, there are no words or enough hugs to take away the pain.
It was just one week ago.
Both of these friends told me how thankful they were to have had a session with recent pictures, but for very different reasons. Sometimes, I don’t think I stop to think about what my pictures mean to other people. I mean . . . I am just taking a picture, right? Nope. I am doing so much more than just taking a picture. I work very hard to try to capture personalities and genuine smiles. I work very had to capture the emotions and connections in relationships. Sometimes, it is easier said than done. I may not find a cure for cancer or find a solution for world hunger, but I think I finally realize that what I do is important. Because what I do is to capture life. To capture a moment in time, a milestone, a memory.
Welcome to this big beautiful world little girl! Sometimes it will knock you down, and sometimes is will break heart. But is also has amazing triumphs and milestones. It is filled with more love than hate even though sometimes it will make you wonder. I hope you take the time to smell the roses. I hope you remember that rainstorms bring blooming flowers, green grass and rainbows. I hope you know that in the darkness of night that there are still stars, and every darkness has a dawn. I wish for you a nurturing soul, and a forgiving heart. I hope that leave people better than you found them. I wish you love & I wish you happiness.
Almost two years ago, I made the decision to specialize in newborns and families. I kind of needed a little bit of focus. Different kinds of photography require a different skill set and a different business model. It’s a lot of extra work to do multiple kinds of photography. And, since I am a part-time photographer, I needed that simplicity and focus of specializing. But everyone once in a while I like to do other kinds of sessions. I thoroughly enjoyed this senior session. We started off at the studio, and ended up on a farm. The basic portrait pictures are always a given, but then you have pictures that truly reveal something about them.
This little girl is the sweetest little girl in the world. I love it when she comes to see me. I can’t believe that she is a year old! Most one year old session include one or perhaps 2 outfit changes and then into the cake smashing. I am pretty sure she would have let us dress her up all afternoon. I love the idea of the cake topper. I may have to borrow that idea for some of my future cake smashing session. Such a cutie!
