This little girl’s mom won a free session during my 12 Days of Christmas give-away. What a better way to take advantage of the prize than for a one year old cake smashing session. It was bright and fun. Loved the “A” that they brought and the homemade tutu! We did a few family pictures before we got messy with some cake.
Welcome to Pictures by Whitney! My name is Whitney Marzullo. I am a custom newborn & family photographer based in Southern York County, Pennsylvania. I love everything photography, but my passions are newborns & families. I love photographing families & watching them grow. I believe that you don't need to have a special occasion to have a session, because every day is a good day to capture a smile!
Extended Family Session @ the Mill | Southern York County Pennsyvlania Newborn & Family Photographer
I am always nervous when I send a gallery off to people who I know personally. I am always worried that they won’t like the pictures or they will be disappointed. I hope that this family loves this gallery. We were able to get this session done in between rain showers. I’d like to say it was all part of my master plan, but it was sheer luck. We did bump up the time a little bit earlier but that just meant that I had to shoot from different angles to avoid the harsh sunlight. I love the colors that they picked for their session. And, some of my favorite pictures are the perfectly imperfect pictures as usual.
I love this little girl! I look forward to seeing her every year and watching her grow. Such an honor to be part of her life. Photographing a 2 year can be challenging, but she was pretty awesome. Her middle name is Rose, and her mom brought some yellow roses. We didn’t plan to sprinkler her with the petals, it just kind of happened. This little girl loved it!
DISCLAIMER: This has nothing to do with photography. Last week was probably one of the most stressful weeks that I’ve had in a long time. Don’t get me wrong I am probably stressed more often than not, but I try to take it all in stride. Unfortunately, I was so stressed out about a particular situation that I had to make a hard decision last week. The good news is that I didn’t have a lot of time to dwell on it. I didn’t handle it with the utmost of grace, but I didn’t really feel like I had the option. And, I think most of you know me well enough that I am a pretty reasonable, rational, patient person. I didn’t go crazy-town, but I felt backed into a corner, and you know how things can go down when you feel like you are being backed in to a corner. So now the deed is done, and the stress is gone. I have no regrets about my decision, as a matter of fact I feel really good about the decision. I am looking forward to a lot less stress in my life and moving forward. Change is sometimes hard, but it is also necessary. Looking forward to a brand new week!
I think the owl picture is one of my absolute favorites. Or, maybe the fresh green and blue blanket pictures. Or, maybe those cute little toes. I also loved his family pictures, too. He was such an awesome little guy!
This was an on-location session. Sometimes I stress out about on-location sessions because I don’t know what I am working with until I get there. It was all good except that we hadn’t even gotten started taking pictures on the second blanket when there was an accident (one of the hazards of working with naked newborns!) Sometimes you just have to go with the flow. Anyway, she was such a little cutie. She had this thing about sticking her tongue out at me. It was adorable. And, she had an adorable big sister, too! I think they are going to be best friends.
This little girl was such a sweetheart for her session. I love all the Spring colors- green, pink and yellow! And, thanks to Mother Nature for the flowers we used in the nest.
There are so many things in life that require our time and energy. There is no possible way to do it all. So, we must pick and choose what is important to us. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the other things aren’t important to us, it’s just that somethings are just more important. There is no right or wrong way . I do crafty Martha Stewart type things because I want to do them. I do not feel the societal pressures to do them and I am not showing off. Okay, I may be showing off just a little bit. But, here is the thing . . . I am not getting a new tattoo, I can’t sew or knit, I can’t run a marathon, and I don’t do Crossfit. I think I am allowed to show off my latest creation with my friends on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.
This week I naturally dyed some Easter eggs. My kids have never been much about dying Easter eggs. Now that they are older I asked them if they wanted to do it because I thought it might be fun do some naturally dyed eggs. They were okay with it. They were intrigued and asked lots of questions, but they didn’t really care about being part of the process. Sometimes I have been known to strongly encourage my children to do things that I think they should do because that is what kids do. Why? If they don’t enjoy it I shouldn’t force them to do it. It keeps life just a little bit happier and a little bit less crazy. It wasn’t difficult, but it was a little time consuming. I can’t explain what it was about the process that was so much fun for me and I loved the outcome. It is kind of like store bought cookies are good, but homemade cookies are even better. Maybe its the love that goes into it.
I generally pick a main color for my newborns sessions and add in some accent colors. It gives me a little bit of direction and focus. It is great when you are putting multiple pictures in collages and birth announcements. Even though we used gray for his session, he was a little breathe of sunshine after a very long winter. His mom told me that they liked Michigan football and basketball. We used a pair of his daddy’s shoes with a pair of his first basketball shoes for this one picture. So cute!
